Lennox Air Conditioning

Lennox Heating & Air Conditioning

Headquartered in Richardson, Texas, the Lennox Furnace Company, or Lennox International, Inc. as its known today, was founded in 1895 by Dave Lennox. The four core businesses at the heart of the Lennox empire are Residential Heating and Cooling, Commercial Heating and Cooling, Service Experts and Refrigeration.  Since the very beginning, the company has been at the forefront of innovative heating and cooling technology, starting with Dave Lennox’s invention of the world’s first riveted-steel furnace in 1895. As the company continued to grow in size throughout the 1920s and 1930s, it also grew in innovativeness. The mid to late 1930s saw the invention of both a forced-air furnace for residential heating as well as something known as the “Stowaway” furnace—the first forced-air furnace designed specifically for attic and crawl space installation. By the late 1940s, Lennox had expanded nationwide, with branches established in Fort Worth, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles before finally reaching Canada in 1952.

The 1950s also saw Lennox first enter the residential air conditioning market with the introduction of central air conditioning systems. While continually fine-tuning their products throughout the 50s, 60s and 70s, Lennox made serious advancements in cooling efficiency with the development of a two speed hermetic compressor in 1973, then again in 1978 when they became the first HVAC company to manufacture electronically controlled, variable speed air handlers and solar-powered air conditioners. Lennox remains at the forefront of home comfort solution technology and innovation with its range of energy efficient, ultra-durable and popular heating and cooling products, even expanding into the hearth products market with the introduction of a line of stylish, fully functional gas fireplaces. Today Lennox offers more than sixty state-of-the-art products and a network of more than 6,000 full service dealers.
